OVERVIEW

Finding a metal cabinet that can accommodate a sink is a tough task. I couldn’t find any that were suitable for my garage or my budget! So I figured out to accomplish this myself. It’s a bit of challenge, but this video will show you how it’s done. If you want a more detailed version, check out the detailed video.

Show Notes

Basic steps include:

  • Using a template to ensure you don’t have to buy a replacement cabinet or a replacement counter top.
  • Making the sink cut out from the cabinet using a pneumatic sheet metal nibbler.
  • Making a cut out for the plumbing connections in the back of the cabinet.
  • Making the sink cut out for in the counter top.
  • Assembling the sink and the cabinet with an installed counter top.

The key to success here is doing multiple test fits along the way. The key to making this a manageable task is the use of a pneumatic sheet metal nibbler. You’ll need an air compressor to run one, but it makes like much easier. You can pick up a cheap one for about $30. The cabinet in the video from NewAge Products. It is the Pro 3.0, 2-Door base cabinet. A 22”x25” sink is installed with a 1.5” thick, maple butcher block countertop.
