Garage Storage

Step 2 in organizing your garage is to choose garage storage solutions and create a blueprint for installing everything.

Storage, Storage, & a Blueprint

After developing a rough garage organization plan, it is now time to choose your storage solutions and refine your plan.

Cabinets

If you want cabinets, consider your environment. If your garage is not climate controlled and you live in a humid climate, wooden cabinets may not be the best option. Metal cabinets will last a lifetime, but do add cost.

Wall Storage

There a numerous options when it comes to wall storage: slatwalls, pegboard, separate hooks, DIY french cleat systems, Elfa, and on and on. It can be a long process choosing what’s right for you, but it is time well spent.

Ceiling Storage

Have high ceilings? Don’t forget you can buy ceiling storage solutions to help free up floor space.

Create a Storage Blueprint

Use a drafting app such as SketchUp to plan out your installation. This will ensure the solutions you have chosen will actually fit and you determine if you like the look and layout of your plan.
